Customised Bling Things – Victoria Page
A visit to enterpriseGY, Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s business support service, helped creative mother-of-two Victoria Page to decide the next steps with her growing venture, Customised Bling Things.
From her home in Southtown, Victoria creates bespoke designs on heeled shoes, mobile phone cases, handbags, jewellery and other items for a global market, using glitter, crystals, 3D elements and even special scents.
Having started the business by accident, when a work colleague commissioned her after seeing a phone case she has crystallised, the businesses grew rapidly, now focusing largely on customised heels for weddings and other special occasions.
After four years, she has some 15,000 likes on her Facebook page and some high-profile clients around the world, having recently customised unique shoes for Epic Dave, of Money Supermarket fame, and for Miss Nevada USA.
Last year, to ensure that she still had the right business model as her table-top venture expanded, she booked a face-to-face appointment with a business advisor at enterpriseGY.
“I’m not particularly business-minded, this all took off by accident,” said Victoria, 33. “I hadn’t planned to start a business and it was a big learning curve. There are a lot of things I learned the hard way along the way. About a year ago I thought I would pop into enterpriseGY, have a chat with someone and see if I’m going in the right direction.
“It was nice to sit down with someone and discuss things properly. I had just been plodding along by myself, bumping into things here and there. It was really helpful and helped me focus on where I wanted to go.
“It made me look at who my customers were and I started a mailing list and got their details and asked them questions. I did some customer research off the back of it. I would definitely recommend going along and having a chat with enterpriseGY.”
