Spirit of Enterprise Awards to set Great Yarmouth buzzing

The business buzz rises in the Great Yarmouth area this week with the launch of the 2012 Spirit of Enterprise Awards.

It is the fifth year of the annual awards which have grown rapidly in prestige and popularity  and showcase a host of outstanding success stories of businesses of all shapes and sizes across the borough.

Entries for a range of categories are welcome from this week with the  competition culminating in a glittering, high-profile ceremony on March 16, 2012, at The Zest Rooms, Potters Leisure Resort.

As well as, inviting businesses to put themselves forward for recognition, organisers enterpriseGY are promoting the many sponsorship opportunities for the event and the chance to play an active role in celebrating the borough’s business triumphs.

“The awards are to recognise and celebrate the true spirit of enterprise in business across the borough whether in terms of inspiration, innovation, determination and growth or particular attention to customers, staff, the environment and the community,” said Peter Wright, enterpriseGY manager.

“Importantly, the event also reinforces Great Yarmouth’s reputation that this really is a GREAT place to do business.”

Bradwell Butchery won the Business of the Year award for 2011 and proprietor Andrew Edmonds heralded his success in the Spirit of Enterprise as the icing on the cake in the development and promotion of his business.

“It confirms we are doing the right things and it boosts all our staff and existing customers. It also attracted many people who didn’t even know we existed. From the first day after the event, new customers were coming in – and many still are. The awards night also brought me closer to the business community and as a result I now have new accountants and some extra expertise for our website. I would urge every ambitious business in the borough to enter.”

Three new categories are featured in the 2012 event – Investing in Young People, Community Contribution and Employer of the Year.

Categories are:

Great Engineering/Manufacturing  Business

Investing in Young People

Great Community Contribution

Great Business Tourism Award

Great Customer Service

Great Environmental Contribution

Great New Business

Great New Innovative Product

Great Employer of the Year

Business of the Year

Full details and criteria for entry are on the website www.enterprisegy.co.uk/awards where entry forms can also be downloaded.  The deadline for entries is 4pm on Friday 6th January 2012.
