The Business start-up and support programme re-started on 1st July 2011. The majority of the staff involved in the previous programme have transferred over to A4e.
A4e has worked in Great Yarmouth since 2006, and helps thousands of people across the UK each year start their own businesses. A4e's Development Manager for the East of England said "Great Yarmouth is a very active and forward thinking Council. We are looking forward to working with them, and all the people in Great Yarmouth, to grow local businesses over the coming years".
A4e will be running events in local communities to enable as many people as possible to be helped by the service.
enterpriseGY would like to thank Great Yarmouth Borough Council who have committed funding to provide this programme of business support for at least the next 2 years.
enterpriseGY has established over 483 businesses start ups and a further 256 businesses have been assisted to prosper between 2006 and 2011. The enterpriseGY team has also organised business-to-business events including craft and wedding fayres and in conjunction with the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, the team has run successful ‘Meet the Buyer’ events helping small companies introduce themselves to larger companies in the borough in order to supply their goods and services and we intend to continue this.
Although the focus of the new programme will initially be on business start ups other aspects of enterprise support will be offered. The Novus Centre will continue to be a focus for a wide variety of enterprise activities for the borough. Already home to the Economic Development Unit, the Novus Centre also offers meeting rooms for hire whilst the Catalyst Centre next door offers high quality business units for rent.
