At a time when the economic downturn continues to dominate news stories and the thoughts of many business-people, enterpriseGY and a group of large, successful businesses are set to remind everyone that it’s not all ‘doom and gloom’.
Through its many partners and associations with local business organisations, enterpriseGY is perhaps in a unique position to provide a realistic overview of the current economic situation in the Borough. It’s because of this that it is embarking on a promotional campaign that serves to highlight some of the more positive aspects of being in business in the area, by featuring just a few of the organisations that are performing well and continuing to demonstrate real commitment through their investment activities in and around Great Yarmouth.
Says enterpriseGY Programme Manager, Jo Butcher: “We have some great local and multi-national businesses operating here in the Borough and we should be proud of their ongoing achievements. That’s not to say we don’t fully appreciate that times are still pretty tough for many of our businesses, but it’s not all bad news – many of our locally-based, large organisations are actually thriving at the moment and there are great opportunities on the horizon.
“What better time than during Enterprise Week to start reminding both business-people and the general public about these opportunities for large and small companies alike – opportunities that will only multiply as the national economy again gathers pace.
“The Great Yarmouth area already has an awful lot going for it, such as ambitious projects like the new outer harbour and the offshore wind-farm developments which stand to have an even more positive impact here. There are more than enough reasons to be upbeat about our future – to get nearer to our potential as the enterprise capital of the east – and we want to talk to any businesses that share this same goal, to see how we can individually help them to prosper too.
The successful organisations to be featured as part of the campaign include EnerMech, Anglian Water, C-MAC MicroTechnology, E-Tech, Seajacks, Claxton Engineering, Potters Leisure Resort, EastPort UK, Survival Systems International and PSA Great Yarmouth Ltd. On Wednesday 18th November, representatives from each of these companies will gather together at Beacon Innovation Centre, with those from enterpriseGY, Great Yarmouth Borough Council and other local business organisations, to mark Enterprise Week and the launch of the campaign.
