Great Yarmouth Economic Strategy

The Economic Strategy 2011-2016 has been drawn up by the Economic Development Unit through consultation with key partners in the area.

The strategy builds on the Sustainable Community Strategy.

It has been developed through a review of previous documents and policies, commissioned studies and consultations with local stakeholders.

The Economic Strategy sets out the aims for the Borough over the next five years and the actions that local stakeholders need to take to deliver these aims.

New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership

The New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) provides a unique opportunity for businesses and organisations to re-shape the economic landscape of Norfolk and Suffolk at a challenging time for the UK economy.

As a business-led organisation, New Anglia takes a business focused approach. They have created a simple structure with an appointed board of 7 business leaders, 6 local authority representatives and a representative from Higher Education/Further Education..

New Anglia will focus on creating the best possible environment for businesses to develop and innovate, creating prosperity and bringing global recognition to our key business sectors.

The  immediate priorities are to focus on the tourism, energy and advanced engineering sectors and provide support for businesses, especially small and medium sized enterprises, to enable them to grow. These sectors have significant potential for jobs growth and much work has already been undertaken in these areas. This is not to the exclusion of other sectors, but with such a major task to undertake, we need to have clear priorities.

In addition New Anglia will work to improve infrastructure, including better broadband, and the rail link from Norwich to London.

Sustainable Community Strategy 2008-2011

The Great Yarmouth Local Strategic Partnership (GYLSP) is responsible for delivering the Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS). It's made up of people from the business, public, faith, voluntary and community sectors. All partners are committed to working together to make a better future for the people of Great Yarmouth.  The document sets out a long-term vision (the 2020 Vision) and a new three year Sustainable Community Strategy for Great Yarmouth aimed at meeting that vision. Since the 2020 Vision was first developed in 1997 much has changed nationally, regionally and in Great Yarmouth. This new strategy takes account of those changes.
As a Sustainable Community Strategy, the contents of this document are based on a sound understanding of the needs, concerns, priorities, wishes, aspirations and views of local people as well as evidence of the trends and developments impacting on the area.
