Education Enterprise - enterpriseGY can offer…
Young Business Start-ups
The Prince's Trust Business Programme helps unemployed 18-30 year olds start their own businesses by offering low interest loans and
grants to those that have no other means of raising the capital. The Prince's Trust also provides continued support for the first three years of trading, endeavouring to match each young person with a volunteer business mentor who provides regular advice. Since The Trust founded its Business Programme in 1983, it has helped more than 66,000 young people start-up in business.
Encouraging Enterprise
enterpriseGY is working with the Borough's schools and colleges to encourage young people to develop a positive attitude towards the world of work. The activities start with the 'WorkWise' personal development programme available to Year 9 students in all the Borough schools.
The sessions give students a real life insight into the world of work and with other activities available through Years 10 and 11 aim to enhance their employability and career success. These activities will foster and develop the necessary skills to lead young people into employment or self-employment.
Activities fall broadly into three key areas - 'Encouraging enterprise', 'Increasing work ready skills' and 'Bridging education - industry links' - and include business simulation games, teamwork, communication, work shadowing and career seminars. Working with employers is a key element of our strategy to ensure students are made aware of the realities of the world of work and how they can plan a successful career as a result.
